Functional Capacity Evaluations
THE EVALUATION: The Functional Capacity Evaluation is an extensive set of tests that assesses many factors affecting a person's ability to perform activities of daily living and work. This includes assessment of strength, flexibility, endurance, and body mechanics. Functional activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, reaching and gripping will be part of the test. The evaluation is broken down into three basic parts:
- intake interview,
- physical assessment
- functional assessment
Functional Capacity Evaluations are performed by licensed physical therapists at the request of physicians, insurance companies, rehabilitation nurses, or attorneys.
APPOINTMENTS: The testing usually takes 3-4 hours. You will be called about three (3) days in advance to remind you of the appointment. Please notify us as soon as possible if you will not be keeping an appointment. We cannot change your appointment without the approval of the individual who requested the evaluation.
CLOTHING: Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. You may be asked to change into shorts for the assessment and may want to bring your own. |
